Our Mission
We started LocalLockdownLV because we were tired of watching families and businesses get trapped in predatory subscription models. Technology should serve people—not extract perpetual rent from them.
Why We Started This Company
After years working in IT and home security, our founder grew frustrated watching good people pay thousands in subscription fees for technology they could own outright. A Ring doorbell customer paying $100/year for video storage was essentially renting a $60 hard drive forever. Businesses paid enterprise subscription prices for services they could host themselves for one-time costs.
The breaking point came when a family friend lost access to years of security footage because they couldn't afford to keep paying Nest's subscription during a financial hardship. The cameras still worked. The hardware was fine. But without monthly payments, the company remotely disabled every feature that made those cameras useful.
We realized the subscription economy had transformed technology from something you buy into something you rent—forever. Ring, Nest, Google, and Dropbox weren't providing services; they were engineering dependency.
